Ascend to Drakenfelds

So it was Ascension Day, and it was ironic i chose to join a plan by another couple (Mexican cham Czech) and their colleagues (1 German girl and 1 French girl) to ASCEND to Drakenfelds, one of the 7 peaks in Bonn. Figured i would try some nature thing while i still was in the "explore Bonn" mode.

And what with the stupid Köln episode 6 hours before i got up...body wants to sleep but desire and enthusiasm won the day! So still in the state of blurness, caught up with the gang and headed up right away. Now the last time i hiked was the Penang Hill random hike with the MC Gang plus Vkin...and it was awesome! The second last hike was at Cameron Highlands also with the MC Gang...which was also awesome!! And why not make the next one as awesome too! Thing bout hikes is that there always is a reward at the end...no matter how hard or high the journey was...and the reward is the VIEW! This time i have to take a picture of Bonn from a peak! And that was my main motivation why i so semangat!

At the beginning...the hike was already tiring! Blame it on the still sleeping body, but with an angle above 45°, it didnt help either! Shit...and the weather which was already cold...became colder! 40 mins later...we were nearly there! Ah...so fast!? Ok...time to cam whore as there was a picturesque spot!

And nun jauh di sana...is the Drakenfelds Castle! To my dismay...it was under construction still! Whats better than seeing castles? Why...castles with construction cranes of course! Shit...so the view wasnt fantastic...but Gerardo (Mexican boyfriend) suggested to go elsewhere, to another peak where this absolutely luxurious hotel (which hosted Bill Clinton once) called Petersburg is situated. Game! So of we headed to the peak they call...Petersberg! But before that, took more pics of Bonn town!



This were pics of Bonn town, divided by the River Rheine. Its not like the River Klang, cuz its big, clean and has heaps of boats that it can cuz boat jams! Pics on top row has my office tower in it!



Ok...so i was motivated by enthusiasm now. But mannn....after 2 hours of hiking...my legs and body were feeling it! And mind you, it was still at above 45° angle hikes...damn la, like that how wanna conquer Mount Kinabalu!? Can you imagine our breaks were walking on flat lands! Mind you these hikers were tired too...but they seem to go on and on and on. I think its because they were well prepared, as while on our break they had sandwiches and fruits and other food...whereas me, just plain water. Nah beh... offer pun takde!

So off we hiked again...and the weather was sooooo cold plus it didnt help that it was raining...my fingers were so cold and i think mucus froze out of my nose! Despite all this, fingers werent too numb to click on cam! And the surrounding was gorgeous...my first European forest!

The path up...to add to my misery, is natures own "stone walk", the ones you see old Chinese man and ladies walking on in parks, BAREFOOTED!

Wahlau...and unbelievably, we hiked for over 10 kms!!! From one of the peaks, we could see the view of Drakenfelds from a different point! And i was soooo hungry!!

My legs could just break...never felt such pain and tiredness before...and its cold, was whinning all the way...!

Looking at the cars and the people arriving, we memang felt like hikers masuk kampung yang posh! The people pulak look at us one kind...too cheap to be there issit!? KNN! So i am not Clinton, but am sure we re on the same train of thoughts ("oral sex is not sex...").

But my mind was already thinking if can get kakao or not in the restaurant...despite several weird stares we decided to head to the restaurant nevertheless. Bugger...one drink cost more than 8 euros!There goes the drink! At least it was warm enough to pee...

After some cam whoring...the gang decided to leave. So after more than 4 hours of hiking, 2 different peaks and over 10 kms to go up this luxurious hotel...we went there jus to pee!

At least it was a fun outing...with me and my cam!
