Mini Tarts:
1) You know you ve been Germanised when you say "Gosh" Germanly..."Gosch"! Hahahaha!
2) Its Halloween...
3) Oh my Gosch!!!
Back in Bolehland, the only people who knows about the Daylight Savings Time would probably be followers of the English Premier League...or those who happen to chance upon it in the papers. For us in Asia mostly, live games are now an hour later...means sleeping much more later...and worst would be Champions League games, instead of 2.30am its 3.30am!!
Not realising when exactly it happens, imagine the reality check that i am in Europe when people were all reminding each other to turn the clock back an hour on Sunday, 3am!
I was like..."So, we all turn this together?" "Is there a specific time to do it?"
Ok, being all 'jakun' about it...i thought wouldnt it be cool to have an extra hour of sleep...or, hey, its a Sat night, we were after all at a party...and its AN EXTRA HOUR of party!!
Blue area - Areas that observe daylight saving time
Orange - Areas that once observed daylight saving time
Red - Areas that have never observed daylight saving time
Of course this being something which i am going through for the first time, naturally i ll wiki it!
So, its commonly used in temperate regions...which explains why most south east Asian countries dont know what the heck it is, simply because theres equal balance of daylight and nighttime. Often touted as energy conservation (how ridiculous!?), people tend to use less energy if theres more sunlight. But thats how it began, ppl lobbied it through hard facts stating energy really is conserved if this hour is brought forward or backward, depending on the amount of daylight there is.
It usually begins by bringing the hour forward on the last Sunday of March, then bringing it back on the last Sunday of October (at least agreed within the EU). Which explained last Sunday's extra hour! Now its 7 hours away from Malaysian time!!! And there are more and more recent countries buying this whole Daylight Savings Time idea. And to answer Alicia's question of how do people know its THAT time of the year...well its not as if like puasa (fasting) time, where there is this guy from the Kings courtyard with the cap mohor saying "Esok kita raya!" (tommorow we celebrate end of Ramadhan) Theres no one saying "Tommorow at 3am, we re gonna turn the hour back to 2am!", but merely reminders via media.
Personally i dont buy it...but its important enough that your own Microsoft OS changes it automatically for you! I think its weird for ppl for changing and resetting their clocks twice every year...imagine those huge clock towers, which are of course NOT DIGITAL!! Imagine changing the clock hands of Big Ben!! Or any clock towers for goodness sake!
Nevertheless i had an extra hour of party...plus an extra hour of sleep...sayyy, i am beginning to like this idea!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Hey, for me in Adelaide its the other way round. We turn the clock forward in OCtober and backward in March. Since you turned yours backward by 1 hour and I turned mine forward 1 hour, it means we're x + 2 hours difference to one another, whatever that is.
GOSCH?! Whatever happened to "I shall not return to Malaysia with the German accent"?! Haha!
Happy Halloween! I'm sure you had a blast in the party last night!
